The Therapist

Hello there! My name is Caroline Tseggay, LCSW (pronounced Cah-roh-lee-nee Seh-guy) and I use she/they pronouns!

So, who am I?

On a more personal level, I enjoy playing games (both board and video games), reading books, drawing/creative arts, listening to music, going to concerts, spending time with my dogs (and humans too!), learning new languages (I can speak three right now, working on my fourth one!) and getting to know new places! I love laughing and connecting with people. And I laugh. A lot. I even have smile lines to prove it!

My journey towards this field was a pretty eventful one. I started as a nursing student, but after one semester and a clinical rotation, I knew nursing was not meant for me. I am grateful for the experience, though, because it was by interacting with my patients that I learned that being a therapist was what I wanted to do. And here we are now!

I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Social Work from University of Texas at Arlington. After becoming licensed in Texas in 2022, I started providing therapeutic services in a variety of settings including IOP/PHP programs, inpatient hospital (with a focus on LGBTQ+, Women and Trauma) and private practice. I have been in private practice since September 2022 and practicing independently since July 2024.

I am a Latine therapist who strives to provide culturally responsive therapy. This means being aware of my own biases and background, approaching others with cultural humility and curiosity, while affirming their experiences and identities. Decolonizing therapy is important to me; I do my best to be aware of the oppressive systems in our society and their impact on all of us. These do not go unnoticed or unacknowledged in our therapeutic space.

And how can I help you?

Relationships can be difficult to navigate, both with others and with oneself, and not having the right tools can make a difficult job even more challenging. Add to this day-to-day life events and unprocessed trauma, and it can be easy to feel like things will not get better, leaving you feeling empty and hopeless.

I want to be there on your journey by holding the space for you, helping you process your thoughts and feelings, learning who you are and what you need, and supporting you as you learn new skills, strengthen the ones you already have, process your trauma safely, and develop and/or nurture healthy relationships.

I primarily work with clients who have been diagnosed with or suspect they have Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and/or (c)PTSD. In addition to working with BPD issues, I also work with individuals who struggle with:

Trauma

Social Anxiety

Mood Disorders

Self-Esteem and Self-Worth

Gender Identity and Sexuality

Interpersonal Relationships

Adjustment to life changes

Substance Use

I have an eclectic approach in therapy because I believe in individualized treatment! Some of the modalities I use include:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Relational Therapy

  • The Gottman Method (couples)

I value authenticity, respect, honesty and safety, and they shine through my practice and my approach. Although our sessions are all about you, you will see and interact with an authentic person on this side of the screen! My goal is to be able to provide safe healing in our time together with a meaningful therapeutic alliance to foster a supportive environment for growth, learning and processing!

My virtual sessions are held from my (very green) home office. My two doggies will probably be somewhere in the room, but they too are HIPAA compliant!

If you are ready to begin your healing journey, reach out to schedule a 15 to 20 minute consultation call. I look forward to talking to you!
